Cornerstone is Calgary's largest community by planned land area, spanning more than 1,000 hectares near the city's northern edge. It's bounded by the Skyview Ranch and Redstone communities to the west, Stoney Trail to the north, Cityscape to the south, and Cornerstone Close NE to the east. Walton Development and Management originally master-planned the community, with Anthem United taking over day-to-day development duties in March 2018. At full build-out, Cornerstone is projected to include roughly 4,500 single-family homes and 10,000 multi-family units, housing an estimated 30,000 residents, though substantial development, including around 2,500 completed homes, is already in place. The community includes 180 acres of natural wetlands, 14 kilometres of pathways, and 95 acres of dedicated parkland, along with seven playgrounds and a cricket pitch. Highstreet at Cornerstone, a shopping centre anchored by a grocery store and pharmacy, gives renters everyday retail within the community itself, and Stoney Trail and Country Hills Boulevard provide fast routes to CrossIron Mills, the Peter Lougheed Centre, and the rest of the city. Future LRT plazas are part of the long-term plan but aren't built yet. For renters who want new construction with substantial green space and on-site retail already up and running, Cornerstone is one of the more complete new communities in the northeast.
